Science reflects the biases of society.
To counteract the stereotypes and ensure a more equitable future for STEM, we need more classrooms and resources that celebrate the incredible range of personalities, interests, backgrounds, and pursuits that drive discovery and progress.
Because every student deserves a chance to see themselves in science.
Free & Flexible Resources for Inclusive STEM Education
“I Am A Scientist” is a collection of educational resources designed to challenge public misconceptions and inspire the next generation of STEM leaders. We use storytelling and creative lesson plans to introduce the multifaceted people, purposes, and pathways in STEM.
Story Kits
DIGITAL & CLASSROOM RESOURCES
Collections of story-based resources centered on real world researchers
Our flagship collection of Story Kits are deep dives into the lives, personalities, and pursuits of 22 diverse STEM professionals. Each toolkit includes a story, a downloadable slide deck featuring their pathway and advice, and additional external resources to support student learning.
Resources are available for virtual or in-person learning.
Poster Kits
PHYSICAL & DIY RESOURCES
Vibrant posters of diverse scientists to support inclusive classrooms
The posters are a companion resource to the Story Kits. Each featured scientist or engineer has a poster showcasing engaging images and relatable details about their work and personalities. The posters are designed to create more inclusive learning environments and more inspiring access points for students.
Poster kits are available by purchase or donation (limited quantities available). All posters are also free to download.
Spark Kits
DIGITAl & CLASSROOM RESOURCES
NGSS-aligned lesson plans featuring the people behind the science
Based on educator feedback, we created a new kind of kit that includes custom challenges based on the types of problems each scientist or engineer solves in their work. Each kit includes relatable details, photo galleries, career paths, day-in-the-life vignettes, and standards-aligned lesson plans.
Resources are available for virtual or in-person learning.
