I often combine my love of travel with my love of adventure. I’ve visited 23 different countries, and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. So far in my travels, I’ve solo backpacked around Southeast Asia and New Zealand, biked through Capetown, South Africa alongside wild ostriches, and went on a safari where we followed a pride of lions that were hunting impalas.

I’m drawn to a variety of ways that I can make a positive impact in my communities. I support kids who are learning about entrepreneurship and finances, participate in a group at work that’s focused on uplifting women, and once biked 537 miles across California in a week to support a fundraiser for the Arthritis Foundation.

I find so many things fascinating, and you can often find me on the road with an audiobook playing. Whether it’s marine biology, geology, chemistry, or physics, I love engaging with the latest discoveries and questions. I also really enjoy taking in insights from other perspectives, like business. I’m currently really interested in learning about leadership and strategy from the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies. It might seem unrelated to science, but I think there’s something to learn from everyone.

I love the ocean and believe all of us have a role to play in protecting our planet. Despite just learning to swim about five years ago, I now use my scuba diving skills to support nonprofits like “Diving with a Purpose.” Recently, I’ve been helping researchers monitor endangered coral reefs so that we can help restore them and keep marine ecosystems healthy.
