Acting & Comedy.

Acting allows me to express myself and escape from the seriousness of life. I find comedy particularly appealing, as it provides relief and a sense of joy. Performing also connects me to my childhood and upbringing in Mumbai, where Bollywood films and dancing are a significant part of the culture. When I lived there, I even performed in Indian web shows similar to Saturday Night Live. Performing is an important part of my life and community, and keeps me in touch with my creativity.

Data Storytelling.

Outside of work, I find it fun to use data to explore interesting questions, even if it’s just for entertainment. At its best, data can be used for exploration, for storytelling, or to make observations about the world around you. I’m a big Game of Thrones fan, for example, and wondered which character in the show was the most well-traveled in Westeros. I analyzed data sets that placed characters in different locations throughout the series. Turns out, Arya Stark was the most well-traveled character in Westeros.

Travel & Motorcycles.

I’m really passionate about travel and motorcycles. I’ve traveled extensively in India, exploring different states and regions on my motorcycle. I enjoy the thrill and sense of adventure. I also have a love for travel in general and have backpacked across India, taking buses and trains to explore different parts of the country. I haven’t traveled as much in the US yet, but always enjoy an adventure whenever I can find it.

Performing Arts.

In addition to performing myself, I also have a big appreciation for theater and performing arts more generally. I love Shakespeare and watching plays, as well as hosting readings with friends. I even met my wife, Summer, at a Shakespeare workshop! I’m also a big fan of great television shows. I find other performers inspiring. Whether they are telling a story through movement, song, or dialogue, the best performers have the ability to evoke deep and authentic feelings in their audience.

Volunteering.

I’m a big advocate for disaster relief and education. I’ve been involved in helping with flood crises and teaching English, both in Mumbai and in other locations. I believe that education is a crucial factor in solving various problems, and am committed to doing whatever I can to support children and those in need, particularly when communities are facing natural disasters. I believe we all have a responsibility to conserve our resources and take care of each other.

A Little About Me

  • I learned to value our natural resources at a young age.

    Growing up, we didn’t always have steady access to water. Still today, many communities across India (and the world) lack access to resources that others take for granted. I’m a passionate advocate for saving and conserving water.

  • I lean into creativity and playing outside the box.

    When I was applying to jobs, I decided to write a song about why companies should hire me instead of submitting a traditional resume. And it worked! I try to keep my mind open to looking at things in fresh and playful ways. It keeps things interesting and makes life a lot more fun.

  • The arts can be a form of escape.

    My family lived in a chawl (a type of low income housing) in India and the living conditions were difficult. Comedy and Bollywood dancing were ways for me to take my mind off of the challenges. Creative expression is still an outlet for me to destress today.

    From acting to dancing and singing, and even the way I approach my job, I try to lead with imagination and wonder.

    I put my whole self into the things that I do. I focus on building meaningful relationships and keeping my values at the center of my work.

  • Adventurous

    Life is full of opportunities and I try to experience as much of it as I can. Whether it’s motorcycle rides, backpacking, or a new stage, I’m up for the adventure.

    I try to find (and create) moments of joy wherever I can. Sometimes that’s starts with something as simple as showing kindness and interest in others.

  • Funny

    Comedy is my favorite form of entertainment. I find the humor in the world around me and really enjoy when the things I notice make other people laugh, too.
