Tips from Tatheer Adnan

Not all data scientists have a background in Computer Science, Math, or Statistics. For example, I come from a bioengineering background. You can work towards learning the underlying statistics and programming skills needed on your own or in more formal classroom settings. Usually, getting real world experience is the most important.

A lack of confidence, or feeling inadequate, is a common experience. Although there may be differences in natural ability, I think hard work and really pushing yourself will always exceed any sort of innate natural capacity for something. Learning itself is a skill.
-
Don't avoid classes, extracurriculars, and projects out of fear of failing or not being good enough. You'll still learn more from failing than you would have learned taking a class that was easy for you.

Data Science Lessons
This page shares five units of youcubed lessons that introduce students (and teachers) to data science. The units start with an introduction to the concept of data and move to lessons that invite students to explore their own data sets. These lessons teach important content through a pattern-seeking, exploratory approach, and are designed to engage students actively.

Data Games For High School Students
Playing computer games creates a lot of data, which usually disappear when the game is over. But in Data Games, you learn to analyze data that are saved, learning math and data skills that help you win! Short videos show you how to play each game and use data from your game play to develop winning strategies.
